Couple Who Met at the Start of the Pandemic Had a First Date That was 204 Days LongThe pandemic really has a way of either pulling people apart or bringing them together. That’s what happened to this unlikely couple. Anju Tomar and Mike Faith connected through a dating app. They quickly bonded over their shared experiences being immigrants in America. Soon, Tomar, a 50-something divorcee with grown children, found herself driving 8 hours to see Faith for the first time in his native Nashville.Related: We Don't Talk About Covid, No No NoTomar admitted how impulsive she’d been, but it all paid off. The couple found even more connections once they were together. Faith, himself a divorcee in his 50s, felt being with Tomar seemed different from the other dates he’d had. They shared a love for music and traveling. However, the restriction of the pandemic forced the two to slow down and just enjoyed the moment. That ended up being a blessing in disguise.Their first date ended up lasting 204 days. They would travel between Nashville and Milwaukee -- sometimes together, sometimes on different planes hours apart. Remote working made staying side by side for long stretches of time possible. They'd watch sunrises, dance to their favorite music and cook together.Image: Anju Tumar and Mike Faith#Covid19 #Pandemic #FirstDate
Mom Survived COVID-19, 3 Strokes and a Heart Attack Before Giving BirthIn August 2021, Diana Crouch, who was 18 weeks pregnant, tested positive for COVID-19 and got hospitalized with low oxygen levels. Soon, she was transferred to Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women to be intubated. She was later placed on ECMO — a heart-lung bypass machine that gives the lungs a break — and later experienced three strokes and a heart attack.Crouch was in hospital for 139 days. Everyday, the medical team debated whether or not to prematurely deliver the baby. It got particularly challenging when she had multiple strokes and heart attacks and was on medications for seizures and in a coma for several days.Against all odds, she gave birth to the baby at 31 weeks and both are safely at home now.According to Texas Children Hospital’s medical director, her survival was pretty miraculous. The reality is there’s a limited number of hospitals in the country who are able to provide ECMO support and care for pregnant women.Image: The Crouches#pregnancy #covid19 #ECMO #stroke
Another Photo of Putin's Long Table Sparked Even More More Internet MemesFollowing the infamous meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron that launched a thousand memes of comically lengthy meeting table, Russian leader Vladimir Putin is yet again in another table saga.A televised meeting between Putin, foreign minister Sergei Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu made its way online and the internet once again had a field day. Image of Putin sitting at the end of an absurdly long table while his deputies sat at the other end has attracted hordes of hilarious reactions in social media. One meme had the table edited to resemble a sushi conveyor belt. Another photoshopped it to look like a bowling alley. One very creative poster even parodied an IKEA ad selling an extremely long table named “Putin”. One theory suggests that the measure was taken due to Putin’s paranoia of contracting COVID-19.Image above: @mrsahuquillo/Twitter#Putin #table #meme #COVID19
The Kosk is the Nose Only Covid-19 Mask in South KoreaDining out has become a pretty tricky affair since the coronavirus spread. Now, one mask brand in South Korea attempts to ease this situation by selling a nose-only mask. The unusual mask, called ‘kosk’ which is a combination of the words ‘ko’ (nose in Korean language) and ‘mask’, consists of two pieces, one of which can be removed to leave the mouth uncovered.Atman, the company behind this kosk, is retailing the item at 9,800 won.Predictably, it has attracted mixed reactions on the internet. One commenter suggested that wearing this type of mask is no different than people wearing a mask under the nose. However, another claims that since coronavirus is easiest to enter our body through the nose, this idea isn’t as strange as many believe. What do YOU think?#mask #kosk #Covid19 #SouthKorea
