If you’re looking for high-flying weddings and parties unlike any other, Mexico’s presidential jet is now available for rent. After 3.5 years of futile attempt to sell the plane, Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has announced his decision to lease it for special events instead. The president prides himself on his austerity, declining to use the luxurious jet and opting to fly commercials.
However, at a $200 million price tag, the plane is hard to sell due to its too-specialized setup. It is custom made to carry only 80 people and has a presidential suite equipped with private bath. Reconfiguring it into a typical passenger jet would be costly according to some analysts. Therefore, the institution now welcomes anyone interested in hosting their daughter’s quinceañera so they can maintain the upkeep of the jet.
