Imagine having to land a plane when you’ve never flown one before! This is what happened to the passengers of this Cessna Caravan heading to Palm Beach, Florida last week.
When the pilot of the plane suffered a medical issue mid-air and became incapacitated, the unidentified passenger took over the controls and radioed for help. Thankfully, the air traffic controller who came in contact with him gave responsive assistance. By looking at a picture of the cockpit, the traffic controller was able to guide the passenger to land safely. This despite never having any experience flying a plane before.
The aircraft touched down in Palm Beach International Airport at approximately 12:30 p.m. Upon landing, the pilot was transported to a local hospital by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
