As Layne Barton looked for a dental clinic for his 14-year-old son's braces, he came across Western Dental and Orthodontics. Upon checking its reviews on Google and seeing that it has a rating above 4.5, Barton thought it "probably [had] a good crew down there," so he chose the office.
The first appointment turned out to be "really good," and Barton looked forward to the next. Unfortunately, the "really good" experience did not last long. The following appointments were not pleasant experiences for Barton and his son. The appointments were over an hour or two hours late, and there was one instance where the office lost the son's appointment.
But the final straw for Barton was when the office no longer answered his calls after they had some problem with his son's surgery. When that happened, Barton snapped, and he decided he would need to protest again using his guitar. He did that before when his former boss refused to pay him, and he got his money. This time, he'll do it for his son, and he'll do it so that people can avoid what he experienced.
On one sunny day, Barton set up his amp and a sign which said "Western Dental Sucks" outside the dental office. There, he shredded his guitar. Barton's action became viral on social media, and eventually, the office contacted him and informed him that they were willing to give him a full refund.
Barton advises people to take Google reviews with a grain of salt, or they might "get duped" just like him.
