Elderly Couple Thought Crashed Drone was an Alien SpaceshipAn elderly couple was in their home when an object from the sky crashed in their garden.Surprised and shaken, the two then went near the mysterious item that crashed in their home in Tokat, Turkey. The man grabbed a stick and pointed it at the crashed object, which was actually a drone (and was actually recording the entire encounter). After initially warning his wife to stay away from the device, the two agreed that it was something that looked from outer space.  “Yes, it came from space! Don’t touch it, it has a bright light on it. Do you think it is going to explode? Do not get close to it. It has a light on,” the elderly man said, agreeing with his wife. The owner of the drone, Umut Izgi arrived a few minutes after to pick up the aircraft. However, the couple was still scared and worried that they have been invaded by extraterrestrial creatures and called someone, a local teacher who reassured them that they are safe from aliens. Izgi uploaded the footage of the incident six years later when the couple died to avoid embarrassing them. He was surprised that the video went viral and has gathered six million views. “I am happy that it is going viral, as it puts a smile on people’s faces in these hard times,” he said.Image credit: Umut Izgi/Zenger#drone #aircraft #Turkey #couple #elderly
Turkish Man Planted 10,000 Trees in a Wasteland and Turned it into a Lush ForestTalk about dedication! For 26 years, Sehmus Erginoglu, 71, has been tending to a forest he single-handedly created in his hometown of Mardin, South Turkey. The area used to be a wasteland until Erginoglu decided to do something about it. He cleared out rubbish from the sites, installed water pipes, and then planted saplings. Today, there are roughly 11,000 trees on the compound, not to mention thousands more planted nearby.Erginoglu voluntarily works on the trees every day. He also built 50 wells over the years to water them. As a young man, he worked as a truck driver. When he got older, he used the money he saved to look after the forest with the help of the Turkish authorities, who provided him with pine tree saplings. He says his greatest happiness is watching people come and enjoy time under the trees.Images: Murat Bayram/MEE#forest #planting #Turkey #pine #tree #Mardin
