Date Night PlansMy parents’ generation called it going down to the river to “watch the submarine races.” Just calling a place Makeout Point was a little too on the mark for more reserved, discreet times.Perhaps, though, before proceeding to more physical intimacy, it’s best to have a serious conversation about where the relationship is going, as the woman in Zach Cranor's Last Place Comics proposes. It’s a mood killer, but it sets the stage for more amorous adventures on the ride back into town. Or a lot of awkward silence, followed by crying in the shower alone that night.Am I oversharing again? Sorry.#webcomic #LastPlaceComics #ZachCranor #romance
This Couple Has Been Married for 91 Years and They're Still in Love with Each OtherAdam Sandler's "Grow Old With You" made a lot of sense to me as I was reading the story of a couple who has been married and in love for 91 years now.Zechariah and Shama'a were Jewish orphans in Yemen who married very young. They were married at the age of 10 and 12. Marrying at a young age was common for orphans, to ensure that they will not be wed outside their faith and culture. Aside from the usual challenges in their relationship, the couple has faced extreme poverty and persecution. They were one of the pioneer Yemen Jews to move to Israel when the state was founded. They had 11 children and 64 grand and great-grandchildren.Living in a generation where romance is viewed differently, this one is a very inspiring story that shows that love is real and alive. Both still feel blessed that they were brought into each other's lives.Image credit: BBC News Video#love #couple #romance #relationship
The Gift That BackfiredThis is the kind of plot line that you'd expect in a romantic comedy. It's perfect for the entire first act, after which the protagonist will have to either change his identity to woo the woman back, or else risk his life and fortune to prove his worthiness. We don't know how true the story is, but this clipping at Abecedarian was published in The Duluth Herald in 1905. Stranger things have happened, but this is too perfect, considering the note that accompanied the gift.
