Feelin' GroovyLiberace showed off his flower power when he performed with a dance troupe on The Red Skelton Show in 1968. While most people just call it Feelin' Groovy, the song is actually titled "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)." The parenthetical was most likely added at the publisher's insistence. The 1966 Simon and Garfunkel song was covered by dozens of artists, most successfully by Harper's Bizarre in 1967. At the time, TV was covered with variety shows that tried their best to be hip and bring us their own versions of hit songs. They already had singers and dancers on the staff, why bother to book the original artists? Besides, the song was years old by then. Just match a song with whoever was scheduled to appear already. Producers knew that people would watch it anyway, since there were only three channels and many people couldn't even receive them all. (via Boing Boing)#Liberace #retroTV #groovy
