The $10-billion <a href="https://www.jwst.nasa.gov/">James Webb space telescope</a> was launched on Christmas Day. Its mission is to replace the aging Hubble space telescope and bring us better pictures from further into the universe. Considering how long it took to get the project to this point, and the expense involved, all the small details had to be double-checked. But the project is now off the ground, so to speak.
