The Traveler: Hyper-Realistic Sculpture of a Weary Traveler at a Florida Airport

That's not a middle-aged guy asleep on his travel bags waiting for his delayed flight at the airport. That's a statue of a middle-aged guy asleep on his travel bags waiting for his delayed flight!

The hyper-realistic statue titled "The Traveler" was created by American artist Duane Hanson (1925-1996). Hanson was well known for creating life-sized realistic sculptures of people out of polyester resin and fiberglass.

Orlando International Airport (MCO) has owned Hanson's "The Traveler" statue since 1986. It's located in the Terminal A concourse, between the East and West security gates. The next time you find yourself there, stop by and say hello to the man - he'll still be waiting for his flight!
