We all like to be complimented on our cooking. We all know that enthusiastic chefs do a better job at it. And we know that cooks will put extra effort into making something delicious when they are cooking for someone they care about. That can lead to the use of common platitudes.
But we also know there are certain ingredients that signal that love by their taste. Some cooks will say the secret ingredient is love when they really don't want to share their secrets, but some will go ahead and blurt out the truth. A ton of real butter on potatoes is amazing.
