The Biggest Advertising Fails of 2022

With the year approaching its end, it’s time for us to look back and remember all the good and bad times of our year. This is done to help us learn from our mistakes and do our best to avoid doing it again next year.

Also, we think it’s just fun to look back at all the mishaps this year. In the world of advertising, things tend to be hit or miss. Some companies nail their ads, while some, well, let’s just say at best, they just earn a few tweets or posts online.

While brands can say they made mistakes and that it was all because of them failing to fully review their advertisements before the release, that’s not quite true, right? Marketing tends to spend a very long time approving and reviewing a commercial or a campaign before throwing it out in the market.

Higher-ups also are the ones who sign off the approval. So failing to fully review is not quite the reason we all want to get from brands when they make mistakes.

Creative Bloq compiled a list of the marketing campaigns that flopped due to various reasons. Our favorite is the Pride Month burgers from Burger King Australia. Why? Well, it’s because seeing them made us think, “yeah, it’s the thought that counts.”

While it’s great that the brand supports diversity, the execution is just downright hilarious. So these burgers called ‘Pride Whoppers,” were just  regular Whoppers but each had “two equal buns.” You’ve read that right, equal buns. This simply means that these burgers either get two top buns or two bottom buns. It’s just downright funny (also wasteful). They did apologize for the campaign afterward.
