Exodus 7:14-12:36 describes the ten plagues cast upon Egypt as the Jews escape from slavery under the leadership of Moses. They are central to the observance of Passover, which begins on April 5 and ends on April 13.

There’s something especially defiant about using this bloody story as the basis for a whimsical, decorative art; the Pharaohs are long gone but the Jews are still here.
