Simon Davey's Night on the Town

A 29-year-old man from East Sussex, UK, was arrested in 1998 in an incident he still can't live down. After an evening of drinking at a darts tournament (a combination I still don't quite understand), he was found by himself inside a police station and was charged with burglary. The tale of how he ended up in such a predicament sounds like something out of the Three Stooges or a Marx Brothers film, but he was all alone and couldn't blame anyone else. He retold what he recalled of that night in an interview with police.

Davey, from Hailsham, was charged with burglary after a telephone wire, a broken part of an answering machine, and statement forms were found in his pockets. But the case was halted after Judge Richard Brown ordered that a tape of an interview between Davey and a detective be stopped because the jury kept laughing.

Although Davey was not punished by the judicial system, his family gave him hell for embarrassing them. Read the entire story at Strange Company.
