People From Around the Globe Report Stereotypes of Their Countries

Every country or culture suffers from the stereotypes that people from other nations hold about them. The stereotype the world has of Americans is that we are rich, fat, and armed. While we might outdo the rest of the world in those things, they are hardly universal. An AskReddit thread collected stereotypes from people all over the world, not the ones they hold, but that they have heard about their own nations. You know a lot of these, but it's the ones who admit that the stereotypes are true that are the funniest.

Switzerland: "Everything is clean, and everything is wildly expensive. Yes, this is entirely true."

Italy: "That we eat pasta six times per week at least. Honestly, it's true for the vast majority of Italians."

Finland: That were only happy and social when drunk. And sadly there’s 100% truth to it too.

Strangely, Finland was listed as the happiest country on earth, a designation that many Finns take issue with. But of course, there are other stereotypes that are wrong, simplistic, and/or need an explanation. Read up on 40 stereotypes that people have heard about their own countries in a ranked list at Bored Panda.
