Now that’s a prank that should be in the history books! Alternatively, if I was the genius mastermind behind this event, this is something that should be passed down as a great story to my family.
A group composed of 300 drones formed a massive QR code in the Dallas sky during the Super Bowl. The people who saw this code, thinking it was probably an advertisement that gave free items or something else, scanned the QR code– and got massively trolled.
The code, it turns out, takes people to the YouTube video for Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” For those who have no idea what the implication behind this is– it’s the classic internet prank known as the “Rick Roll,” where people send seemingly serious links only to lead people to the music video.
This massive prank was a collaboration between Fort Worth-based Sky Elements and Rockwall-based Jared Guynes, the guy behind the Epic Nerf Battles.
