The poor guy.
Look, let’s just make it a default rule. Don’t yell at any big or wild animals near you. Especially if you’re hiking or going around a natural park. For the sake of your peace and safety: don’t do it.
A man working as a carpenter in Island Park, Idaho, learned this lesson the hard way. He had a very close call with a moose after yelling at them. What’s worse is that he also allowed his dog to run up to the spooked animal, which aggravated it further. So it’s no surprise that the animal rushed towards them.
A video was able to capture the moment, showing the man who spotted the moose who was gradually approaching the site where he was working on, and shouts at it to leave. At this point, the moose actually stayed calm and began to just wander away. However, the man’s dog started to run up and bark at the poor animal, which caused it to charge and race after the man. He was able to make it inside a building before he was knocked down.
Visitors are usually warned to keep their distance from these animals and are advised to talk calmly and slowly move away from the area if they are approached by one. Authorities are also advised to keep their dogs in check as moose usually perceive them as a threat. "If a moose knocks you down, curl up in a ball and protect your head with your arms and keep still," the National Park Service advised. "Fighting back will only convince the moose that you may still be a threat. Only move once the moose has backed off to a safe distance or it may renew its attack."
