Since June 19, 1978, cartoonist Jim Davis has been cranking out Garfield comic strips on a nearly daily basis. Davis is nothing if not consistent and reliable. With the possible exception of his dystopian special, we know what to expect from Garfield, Jon, and Odie. They’ve delivered quality and quantity—enough so that the GarfieldBot5000 usually makes sense.
Every 20 minutes, this computer program pulls from the vast Garfield corpus and arranges three panels randomly. If the excellent 80s-90s cartoon Garfield and Friends were ever revived, it would be easy enough to stitch together an episode from these panels above. It just might be necessary to raise the rating from G to PG.
