Twitter user @kanbird is a birdwatcher who recently encountered this unusual sign while on one of his forays out of the city. He notes its similarity to similar animal crossing signs in Canada, which featured moose, turtles, geese, and foxes.
This one, though, appears to warn that flying squirrels are known to cross this path. But Google Translate is rendering is more ominous interpretation:
So there are not just flying squirrels, but also giant flying squirrels, who we can assume like to prey on unwary humans who foolishly wander into its hunting ground at night.
This is a kaiju film that I would still love to see, though.
