Cops Get On The Scene After Tourists Gets $1000 Bill For Crab

This tourist panicked and refused to pay when her bill in a restaurant in Singapore came to a whopping $1,000. To be fair, we would be wondering how and why if we expected a smaller order. Perhaps a case of miscommunication?

In this situation, absolutely. The tourist, Junko Shinba, was dining at Seafood Paradise when she allegedly took her waiter’s advice and ordered the establishment’s Chili Crab. This is a specialty in Singapore and Malaysia, as well as Paradise’s signature meal. Shiba shared that she thought that the dish would only cost $20. It turns out that it was $20, but that was the price per gram of the order.

According to Paradise Group, the company that owned the restaurant, their staff brought the  entire King Crab to Shiba’s table.  "At Seafood Paradise and all other Paradise Group restaurants, we consistently uphold a commitment to transparent pricing with a focus on customer service and food quality,” the organization shared in a statement. “Our staff will do their best to communicate clearly to the customers and welcome any queries.”

Shinba defended herself, saying that they assumed that the big crustacean was only being shown off, and they’ll only get a part of it in their meal as the staff didn’t explain what the signature meal really entails. The tourist and her companions refused to pay the bill and requested for the police instead. In the end, the manager offered a small discount, and the visitors reluctantly paid the bill.

We’d recommend to ask just how much is going to be served on your next trip!
