Frank de Ruwe, the Dutch street artist who goes by the name “Frankey”, adds small, subtle, and precisely crafted changes to objects in everyday life to quietly change their meaning.
What does this one mean? In 1978, the many European nations standardized their road signage to make international travel easier. I think this one says that this road belongs to only car traffic, but I’m not sure.
When I saw this image, I immediately wondered why it shows Captain America and not a superhero from the Netherlands. But aside from an obscure DC character named Jeroen Thornedike, there doesn’t appear to be any.
