And the Photobomb of the Year Award Goes to...

You can see the glorious picture this was supposed to be. But it's even better than that! The hikers were eager to document their ascent of Mount Storm King in Washington state, and Bill Furey of the Heritage Hiking Club snapped the camera just as a bird flew into the picture.

At least that's what they want us to think. An alternative story would be that this is an image of the rare but lethal giant mountain finch eying his prey. You can see the fear in the hiker's eyes as they await their imminent doom. Days later, the crushed skeletal remains of two missing hikers were found in a massive pile of bird guano.

Or maybe it's just a matter of the serendipity of nature and a bird flying close to the photographer. Either way, it's a great memento of a memorable climb. -via Everlasting Blort ā€‹
