An Honest Ad for Plastic Surgery

Roger Horton is back with another Honest Ad, this one for Dr. Roger's Dysmorphia Exacerbation Clinic, conveiently located in Antarctica. He gives us a lot to think about. Personally, I've always rejected the idea of unnecessary surgery, but plastic surgery is sometimes a boon to an individual, if not totally necessary for life. A lot of today's surgical techniques were developed to help World War I veterans, whose horrific injuries kept them isolated from other people until they got facial reconstruction surgery. Children born with cleft palates have much improved lives after surgical repair. But those cases are few and far between for the average plastic surgeon, who can make obscene amounts of money by altering bodies to improve a perfectly normal appearance. That's why so many plastic surgeons take a month off every year to provide free surgery to people who can really benefit in developing countries- to make up for the incessant futility of their regular jobs.
