A Side Effect of Using Your Mental Superpowers

One movie comes up with a way of illustrating something, and suddenly every movie does it. Among people who watch those kinds of movies, it becomes a well-known shorthand signal. In superhero, fantasy, or science fiction, when someone uses some kind of mental power, like telekinesis or a mental death ray, you can tell they are working at it when you see a bit of blood coming out of their nose. It signifies that whatever they are doing takes a lot of effort.

In this latest skit from Ryan George, a group of friends (all played by George) re-enact that trope to ridiculous ends. They find a glowing orb that gives them the power of telekinesis, and when one discovers it, they all have to try it out. They seem more fascinated with the nosebleed than they are with the ability to make a banana move with the power of their minds. Is it worth the effort? I don't think so.  -via Geeks Are Sexy
