It sure sounds like the beginning of a joke, with many possible punch lines. The best known is the bartender saying, "Why the long face?" For some reason, that question is rarely answered. But there is a real horse who walks into bars all the time in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Michael Duncan bought a horse a year and a half ago and named him Sheriff. He learned to ride with a friend who took their horses down along the Trinity River, where they drew the attention of bar patrons sitting in patios. Once Duncan and Sheriff were invited inside one bar, it began a habit. Or, as Duncan said, "it just grew into a thing." Sheriff and his saloon visits have become social media posts, which led to more invitations. So if you are having a good time at a bar in Ft. Worth on a weekend, you just might see a horse walk into a bar. But don't ask him why the long face. Sheriff doesn't know, and Duncan has heard it before. -Thanks, WTM!
